What Causes Dandruff In Hair?
Dandruff is basically a result of an over-abundance of shedding of the scalp skin layers. In other words ~ a chemical imbalance of the hair follicles that causes the scalp to become dry and hair sometimes oily. This results into a dry, itchy appearance of white flakes upon the hair and shoulders.
So why can some people have oily skin and still have dandruff….or why for that matter can a person have too dry of skin and then create dandruff? Certain eating habits, change in the climate, medications, increased stress levels, are some of the causes that lead to dandruff problems. In medical terms, dandruff is referred as seborrheic dermatitis.
How Do You Get Dandruff?
Dandruff all has to do with a person’s heredity and chemical indifference.
Many people will reach for a dandruff shampoo…however that only fixes the problem temporarily and will not actually cure dandruff issues…
A more holistic approach to treating and eventually relieving dandruff needs to be considered. Use of a natural hair pack for dandruff will get rid of those white flakes for good upon the scalp.
Remember that natural, homemade remedies take time to show a visible change but are effective for most people.
You could also make a “floral water” or “hydrosol” of sorts, to use as a final rinse. Take a plastic water bottle and add 10 drops of essential oil to 1 liter of lukewarm water. Cap the bottle and shake well. Then take a coffee filter and filter the water through it. Use the fragrant water as a final rinse.
Did you know the well-known pain killer aspirin, used for relieving aches, can serve you equally effectively to eliminate the problem of dandruff? Just crush two aspirin tablets into a powder then add it to a dollop of shampoo. Leave the mixture on your scalp for two minutes. Rinse and wash properly to remove the aspirin particles completely from the scalp. Use a good moisturizing conditioner afterward.
Try the remedy below for everyday use.
- 1 cup Vinegar- apple cider is best because of the ph
- 5 crushed Aspirin
- 1/3 cup Witch Hazel
Heat the mixture on the stove until the aspirin dissolves. Then add the witch hazel… Massage the mixture into your scalp. Let it sit for 15 minutes or so. Then shampoo as normal.
To stop the return of dandruff, you can wash your hair with warm apple cider vinegar, leaving it on for 30-40 minutes and then rinsing it with plain water. You have to continue this process regularly to stop its return. The smell of the vinegar does evaporate after a short period of time.
Another effective dandruff home remedy is to rub a couple of tablespoons of regular baking soda into the scalp and then rinse the hair off. Do this on a regular basis.
